About ShiaSoCal

ShiaSoCal is a community calendar that brings together majalis, lectures, and programs from Shia centers across Southern California into one place, so you never have to check a dozen mailing lists and group chats to find out what's happening.

How it works

We follow the public announcements that mosques and community organizations already publish, through their emails, channels, and messaging groups, and turn them into a single, always-current calendar. Each announcement is read into a structured event with its date, time, location, and speakers, then added to the calendar and to our subscribe feeds.

You can browse by day, week, or month, filter by county or center, and see who is speaking where with the Speakers view. An optional Islamic-dates overlay shows Hijri dates and religious occasions alongside community events.

Subscribe in your calendar app

Prefer the calendar app you already use? On the calendar, use the "Add to your calendar" button to subscribe in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook. Once you subscribe, the feed keeps itself up to date as events are added or change, with nothing more to do.

You don't have to take everything. Subscribe to the full calendar, or narrow it to a single county or a single mosque. Each option is its own live feed, so you only see the events that matter to you. If you just want a one-time snapshot, you can download an ICS file for any calendar app instead.

Submit an event

Hosting a majlis, lecture, or program? Anyone can submit a single event to the calendar. Send us the details, or a flyer, at [email protected] and we'll add it.

List your organization
